1. Promoter
The Blackwood Chamber Business Excellence Awards are conducted by the Blackwood Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
2. Eligibility
A business can only be nominated if it is:
- located within the Shire of Bridgetown–Greenbushes (see map on the Awards section of the BCCI website)
- actively trading at the time of nomination
- compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
Not-for-profit organisations only, can be nominated for the Community Impact award category. The organisation must be located in the Shire of Bridgetown–Greenbushes.
The Chamber reserves the right to verify eligibility.
3. Awards
Category awards (Public vote)
- Agribusiness and Value-Added Producer
- Community Impact (Not-for-profit organisations only eligible for this award)
- Creative Industries and Artisan
- Retail
- Services
- Sustainable Business Excellence
- Tourism and Hospitality
- Trades and Construction
Major award (Determined by the Chamber from the eight category winners)
4. Key dates
- Voting opens: 1 July 2026
- Awards launch event: 4 August 2026
- Voting closes: 3 September 2026
- Finalists announced: 24 September 2026
- Gala Awards evening: 17 October 2026
The Chamber reserves the right to amend dates if required.
5. Voting process
The awards operate under a single-stage public voting model. Businesses are nominated and voted for simultaneously.
Participants must visit https://www.blackwoodcci.org/awards during the competition period and fully complete the digital voting e-form, including providing their name, email, plus other non-optional details noted on the digital form/entry.
The digital voting form is also accessible by scanning the QR code on the official poster.
Each voting participant may only fill out the voting form once, per email address, per category.
The Chamber reserves the right to audit, verify, or remove votes deemed fraudulent, duplicate, or manipulated.
6. Finalists
Finalists will be determined based on the number of valid votes received in each category.
The number of finalists per category is determined at the discretion of the Chamber.
7. Award winners
Category award winners are determined by:
- the highest number of valid votes in each category.
In the event of a draw (tied votes), both businesses will be declared the category winner and presented with an award each.
The Business of the Year award winner will be determined by:
- the Chamber from the eight category winners. An interview may be required.
The Chamber's decision is final.
8. Chamber membership
Each category award winner will receive 12 months BCCI membership.
9. Awards
- Category award finalists will receive a certificate.
- Category award winners will receive a trophy and a certificate.
- The Business of the Year award winner will receive a trophy and a certificate.
Awards are not transferable or redeemable for cash unless specified.
Winners of awards in the Blackwood Chamber Business Excellence Awards will be eligible to participate in the WA Regional Business Excellence Awards conducted by RCCIWA.
10. Voter incentives
Voters will be entered into a prize draw. Details are as follows:
- One entry per valid vote submission.
- Two winners will be selected at random.
- Prizes for winners include local vouchers or equivalent local produce / products.
11. Promotion and use of information
All category award finalists and winners, and the Business of the Year award winner, must agree to:
- being promoted across Chamber marketing channels
- having their business name, logo, and images used in Chamber promotional materials
- participating in Chamber media or promotional activities.
12. Conduct and integrity
The Chamber reserves the right to:
- disqualify any business engaging in misleading, unethical, or inappropriate conduct
- remove votes obtained through manipulation or coercion
- exclude any participant that brings the awards into disrepute.
13. Privacy
- Personal information collected will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Blackwood Chamber Business Excellence Awards.
- Participants may opt-in to receive future communications.
- Information will not be shared with third parties without consent.
14. Event attendance
- Business owners or their representatives are encouraged to register to attend the Blackwood Chamber Business Excellence Awards launch event on 4 August 2026.
- Category awards finalists are encouraged to attend or send a representative to the Gala Awards celebration event on 17 October 2026. Tickets are required to attend the event. Two free tickets will be given to all category finalists.
- The Chamber is not responsible for travel or accommodation costs to any events.
15. Changes and cancellation
The Chamber reserves the right to:
- modify categories, prizes, dates or processes
- cancel or postpone the Blackwood Chamber Business Excellence Awards if required due to unforeseen circumstances.
16. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Chamber is not liable for:
- technical issues affecting voting
- loss, damage, or injury arising from participation
- any third-party supplier issues.
